Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, also commented on the firing of US national security adviser, John Bolton, saying this is an internal US affair, and that it is unwise to comment on an 'internal US matter'.
According to an Iran Press report, Takht-Ravanchi stressed that the Trump administration's 'economic terrorism' effectively rules out any negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Commenting on whether John Bolton's departure might mean a more sensible and less extreme US foreign policy, Iran's representative at United Nations in New York said: "It is too early to say whether that will actually happen. We can't say that America's foreign policy might become less belligerent and less extreme because of Bolton's departure. But what is certain is that John Bolton was an extreme right-wing politician with extremist views, and even his boss, Donald Trump has acknowledged that."
In response to a question about Trump's assertion after the G7 summit in France that there might be a meeting between himself and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, a claim which was reiterated by US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, Majid Takht-Ravanchi said there will be no such meeting so long as America's unilateral and illegal sanctions and economic terrorism against Tehran continues.
He pointedly added: "We do not accept America's maximum pressure policy, we believe that America's sanctions against the Iranian people are illegal and unjust and they must be lifted."
Takht-Ravanchi also referred to a recent statement by America's Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, who had said the Trump administration's maximum pressure policy against the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue. 101/211
