Iran Press/ America: Democrats in the House of Representatives are expected to unveil two articles of impeachment against Donald Trump on Tuesday that will focus on his abuse of power and obstructing Congress in its duty, and it would be voted on by the full House next week.
According to CNN, Democrats plan to unveil the articles of impeachment Tuesday morning and will begin debate on them in the Judiciary Committee on Thursday. Late Monday night, House Democrats announced a news conference for 9 a.m. ET Tuesday on Capitol Hill to share the next steps in the impeachment inquiry.
The articles of impeachment, which will be voted on in the House before any Senate trial, will concern abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
In reaction to recent developments on the impeachment process, US President Donald Trump in a tweet about impeachment this morning said that to impeach a president who has "done NOTHING wrong, is sheer Political Madness!"
Republican lawyers from the same House panels argued against Democrats’ impeachment efforts and defended the president’s actions toward Ukraine at the center of the impeachment inquiry.
The impeachment process began in September after an anonymous whistleblower complained to the US Congress about a July phone call by Trump to the president of Ukraine, in which the US president appeared to tie US military assistance to Ukraine launching investigations into Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, that would help Donald Trump with his re-election campaign.205/219
