Iran Press/Iran News: Mehran International Crossing is of major importance as the main route for Arba'een pilgrims in the west of Iran, through which thousands of pilgrims rush to join massive Arba'een Trek.
Every day, a large population of Arbaeen pilgrims cross the border, Iran Press reported.
Meanwhile, government agencies and non-governmental organizations serve Arbaeen pilgrims with various facilities and amenities.
Vaezi, Iran's president Chief of Staff, said in the last 24 hours more than 180000 Pilgrims passed Mehran Crossing which is three times more than last year.
Arba'een, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS) every year in which a huge crowd of Shia's flocks to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rituals.
Every year Shia Muslims from across the globe converge on Iraq to commemorate Arba'een. Pilgrims travel miles on foot to reach the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in Karbala.
