Rear Admiral Shamkhani

The Secretary-General of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said appropriate education and training are considered as the vital infrastructure for the continuation of the surge in the production.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani wrote on his twitter account on Thursday to congratulate the World Day of Teacher and Worker to the Iranian society.

Admiral Shamkahni said that the teacher’s thoughts and worker’s efforts are the unique supports for the country’s growth and are considered as the important elements of power and safeguarding national security.

Teachers’ Day is a special day for paying tribute to teachers and appreciating their efforts which include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in educating the younger generation.

In Iran, the day is usually celebrated on May 2 on the martyrdom anniversary of Morteza Motahari, an Iranian cleric, philosopher, lecturer, and politician who was assassinated on the same day.

The idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day took root in many countries during the 19th century, however, unlike many other International Days in most cases, the day is marked on various dates for different nations by celebrating a local educator or an important milestone in education. The universally accepted World Teacher's Day is 5th October.

Ayatollah Motahari was a popular figure in the religious circles of Iran. He served in the Tehran University as the head of the Department of Theology and Islamic Teachings. At the time of his assassination, he was the president of the Constitutional Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a member of the Revolutionary Council.

Also, each year, people across the globe take to the streets to commemorate International Workers' Day or May Day.  In dozens of countries, May Day is an official holiday, and for labor rights campaigners it is particularly important. In the late-19th century, socialists, communists and trade unionists chose May 1 to become International Workers' Day.

Both Teachers and Workers Day in Iran has no public gathering due to Coronavirus and Social Distancing protocols.
