Iran Press/Iran news: The Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei who served as IRGC commander in chief during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, in a meeting with the veteran commanders on Thursday said: “Another step in the US President Donald Trump’s plan is to depreciate the value of Iran's national currency (IRR or Rial) so that no one else works with the rial and utterly force it out from the market."
"The US seeks to make it impossible for the Iranian government to pay salaries and create economic depression that leads to the closure of factories," The Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council noted according to Iran press.
"Americans also seek to create riots and chaos, and use the MKO (The Mujahideen-e khalq) terrorists to take control and pave the way for US intervention under the pretext of human rights,” Mohsen Rezaei added.
On Dec 05, 2018, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said, the only way to withstand against US sanctions is to resist the American pressure.

Former IRGC commander in chief during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, said: "But the American dream will never come true by revealing the true face of the Americans within the framework of a cultural revolution and relying on the internal resources."
The Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council further noted that through unity and cultural struggle along with proper economic policies, Iranian nation can thwart plots.
On 8 May, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of a nuclear deal struck by Iran and six world powers known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for lifting of sanctions.
The US president also reinstated the sanctions already lifted under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and vowed to impose the highest level of economic ban on Iran.
The second round of US sanctions against Iran targeting Iranian oil exports, shipping, aviation industry and banking sector, went into effect on Monday 5 November.
Referring to the EU financial mechanism (SPV), Mohsen Rezaei said that the EU has promised Iran to continue trade under US sanctions but it will only meet needs for medicine and foodstuff.
The mechanism is part of the EU’s efforts to encourage Iran to remain in the nuclear deal following the unilateral withdrawal of the US back in May, by offering an alternative payment channel to keep trade flowing with Iran in defiance of US sanctions.
According to EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, the mechanism will come into effect by the end of December.
