Iran Press/ Asia: Continuing the plans for the second day of his trip to Pakistan, Ebrahim Raisi met with Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab State, today at noon local time, and stated that the relations between the two countries have always been growing and improving after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, called the will of the leaders of the two countries to develop cooperation as something that makes the efforts of some countries to harm the friendly relations between Tehran and Islamabad ineffective.
The President described the exchange of diverse mutual capacities as the basis for securing the interests of Iran and Pakistan and increasing the power of the two countries, and stating that there is no obstacle to the development of relations between them, he said, "The purpose of my visit to Lahore is to pay respect to the late Iqbal Lahori and to strengthen cultural relations between two countries because Lahore is considered a cultural symbol of Pakistan".
Raisi described the personality of the late Iqbal Lahori as well-known and respected among Iranians and stated, "The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has mentioned the late Iqbal Lahori as a cultural and culture-loving personality under the title of Star of the Eastern Sky. Also, the affection and interest of the people of Pakistan towards Imam Reza (AS) is rare and exemplary".
In this meeting, Maryam Nawaz Sharif also expressed her gratitude and pleasure for Dr Raisi's trip to Punjab and visiting the grave of the late Iqbal Lahori, as well as attending the GCU University of this city as one of the oldest universities in South Asia, which was established in 1864, saying that he would use all her efforts to develop Iran-Pakistan relations further.
In this meeting, the two sides agreed to expand the Persian language education in Pakistan, considering the common cultural background and attention to the Persian language in Pakistan.
The President, while announcing the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate in this field, gave the mission to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance to cooperate with the relevant Pakistani authorities to prepare the grounds and preparations for it.
