Iran Press/ Middle East: The Iraqi Prime Minister's Press Office issued a statement announcing that the handover ceremony took place on Thursday night, May 7 in the presence of Adel Abdul-Mahdi and Mustafa al-Kazemi and their cabinet ministers.
According to the statement, al-Kazemi stressed at the ceremony that he had sworn to maintain the government and provide peace of mind for the citizens and to convey this message to those to whom the government is working to provide a decent livelihood.
He stressed the need to maintain existing gains and co-operate in the face of the country's security, economic and health crises.
Adel Abdul-Mahdi also praised the formation of a new government headed by al-Kazemi, stressing the importance of a peaceful transfer of power as a symbol of democracy, despite all the complexities in the country's political landscape.
He praised Al-Kazemi for selecting capable figures in his cabinet and called on former ministers to work with the new ministers.
