Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with Japan's NHK TV channel, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said Japan will probably be able to explain to the Americans and make them understand the current situation, adding that Tehran hopes Shinzo Abe's upcoming visit will ease tensions in the region.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, welcomed the visit by the Japanese prime minister to Tehran, adding: "Next week Shinzo Abe would meet with senior Iranian officials including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei."
The Japanese prime minister is slated to visit Iran from June 12-14.
Following the visit of by former Japanese prime minister Takeo Fukuda to Iran in 1978, Shinzo Abe is the first Japanese prime minister to visit Tehran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
It is also worth noting that Shinzo Abe has shown a personal interest in boosting bilateral ties between Tehran and Tokyo and he has also met with the Iranian president on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting each and every September in New York since 2013. 101/211
