Muslims from all across the world are heading for Saudi Arabia to perform this year's Hajj pilgrimage which is an annual event. The event is considered the largest gathering of Muslims all around the world.
Nearly all the pilgrims go to Saudi Arabia to visit the Holy city of Medina either before or after performing Hajj rituals .Medina is the second holiest city of Islam after Mecca. It is very significant for the Muslims as they visit the Holy Shrine of Prophet Mohammad(SW).
The visiting pilgrims of this holy shrine say that unity among the Muslims and living in a peace are considered as their greatest hopes.
"My wish is that all Muslims live together in a peaceful manner .I hope Islam will bring peace to all parts of the world." says a pilgrim .
Another pilgrim hopes that all Muslims' suffering will come to an end finally so that they will live a peaceful life.
Nearly 3 million people from all around the world are expected to converge on Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the annual Hajj pilgrimage this year. The Saudi authorities have apparently pledged to take all necessary steps to ensure the pilgrims experience the best spiritual trip of their lives.
However, in 2015 ,because of Saudi mismanagement and incompetence, a deadly stampede killed at least 2,411 pilgrims, a new count shows, making it the deadliest in the history of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The Islamic Republic of Iran was most affected by the disaster, with 464 Iranian pilgrims being killed in the tragedy. Mali said it lost 305 pilgrims , while Nigeria lost 274 and Egypt lost 190 of its pilgrims.
