Tabriz (IP) - The historic bazaar of Tabriz is in the heart of the city, the provincial capital of East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: The bazaar of Tabriz has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2010 and is one of the most important commercial centres on the ancient Silk Road connecting China to West Asia and Europe.

Tabriz bazaar was commercially one of the most important centres of trade, particularly when Tabriz became the capital city of Iran during the Safavid dynasty in the 13th century and it remained prosperous until the end of the 18th century.

The historic traditional bazaar of Tabriz has an area of about one square kilometre, and is the largest indoor grand bazaar in the world.

Factors such as the architecture, the arrangement of shops, the abundance of mini-caravans, caravans, corridors, passages, as well as the types of businesses and professions, and the existence of a large number of schools and mosques, which are mostly historic, has made this bazaar a perfect example of business and Islamic and Oriental lifestyle. 101/211
