Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has warned the US and the Zionist regime that their dream of a fake 'deal of the century' will never come true in the Middle East region.

According to an Iran Press report, addressing the closing ceremony of the Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Monday night, Ali Larijani said: "We will stand against the Zionist regime and we will not allow them to become dominant in the region, and we will never allow the fake deal of the century to be realized."

In further comments Larijani said: "The arrogant powers want Muslims to be divided and weak, so that the Israeli regime can dominate this region. The reason the Americans have slapped sanctions on Iran and are pressuring us, is because we have stood up to the Israeli regime, we have confronted this regime and we haven't allowed it to do what it wants."

Commenting on Western claims that Iran was after a "Shiite Crescent" in the Middle East region, Larijani said: "This is not true. We don't want to form a Shiite Crescent, we have no need for it."

Turning to US weapons sales to regional countries, the speaker of Iran's Majlis pointedly said: "The Americans have poured in a lot of weapons into this region. We certainly don't need that huge amount of weaponry to keep the region secure. Why should small countries in this region have so much weapons poured into them ? What does it mean? Larijani asked rhetorically: "Does this region have the capacity to absorb so many weapons?"

Elaborating further Larijani said: "Trump says openly that he will not interfere in Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, because the Saudis have bought so much weapons from the Americans, and it is a lucrative business - so much money is at stake".

The speaker of Iran's parliament pointedly said: "We defeated terrorists in this region. Iran helped both Iraq and Syria, to defeat the Western-armed and Western-trained Takfiri terrorists in this region. The Americans only supported the terrorists, financially, logistically and militarily. The Americans were using the Takfiri terrorists as a tool to further their own objectives."

In relevant remarks earlier on Sunday, senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Akbar Velayati, called on Muslim countries to increase their unity  and convergence. Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Pakistan's religious and political officials on the sidelines of Supreme Council of Islamic Awakening.
