In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday, the head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization, and vice president, Ali Asghar Mounesan, talked of plans to improve tourism in Iran, attracting more tourists into the country, specially under current circumstances where the foreign currency market is fluctuating, something which is not to the benefit of the country.
Referring to 4 percent growth in Tourism in the final days of last year as a sign that tourism is picking up in Iran, with more tourists entering the country, Mounesan said: "The first quarter of the current year shows a 30 percent increase in the number of the tourists entering the Islamic republic of Iran."
He also described the current fluctuations in the foreign currency market as useful tool , because it will make trips to Iran cheaper than ever before. In turn it will also encourage more tourists to come to the country. However, Mounesan expressed hope that more steps could be taken to control the situation , and the government is unveiling a series of measures to bring stability to the currency market by the end of this week.
According to Mounesan , the rate difference could turn the country into the number one destination for foreign tourists, bringing hard currency into the country.
However The head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization stressed the fact the all efforts should be made to keep direct flights to Tehran so that the tourists have no problem entering the country.
Munesan 's words came on the side lines of The 24th Iran International Electronic, Computer and E-Commerce Exhibition known as ELECOMP which was kicked off in Tehran on Saturday with the attendance of Iranian ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi.
The 24th edition of ELECOMP will take place from July 28 to 31 in Tehran International Permanent Fairground with the participation of domestic and foreign companies.
