The Holy shrine of Imam Ali Ebne Moussa al-Reza (Peace be upon him), the eighth infallible successor to Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) will be showered with flowers and petals, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

The special  ceremony to shower the Holy shrine with flowers and petals will begin at 17:30  on Tuesday afternoon, 24 July,  in Mashhad's Shohada square, with both the general public and staff and workers of the Holy shrine taking part in this ceremony.  

The large procession will make its way from 'Shohada Square' to the Holy shrine of Imam Reza (Peace be upon him) , where a special celebratory birthday anniversary ceremony will commence from 18:00 hours.  Eulogists will also chant and sing the praises of the eighth Imam (Peace be upon him)  as the procession makes its way through the city of Mashhad towards the Holy shrine.

The holy shrine of the eighth Imam located in Mashhad is center of feasts with millions of Muslims from across the country and overseas paying pilgrimage visit to the shrine.

Based in Shiite ideology, Imam Reza was the seventh descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the eighth Imam of Shiites. He was born in Medina in the house of  Imam Musa al-Kazim the 7th Shiites Imam.
