In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, on the sidelines of International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical exhibition in Tehran, Ali Kardor emphasized that Iran is very attractive to foreign energy firms since we are the cheapest producer of hydrocarbons in the world , making Iran very competitive in the global markets, and providing excellent opportunities for foreign energy firms who are active in the oil and gas industries.
Commenting on the nuclear issue , Ali Kardor said "even if Donald Trump decides to withdraw from the nuclear agreement (JCPOA) no particular difficulty will arise for Iran's oil and gas industry".
In fact, he said, "we are increasing our crude oil production at the moment. And we think the current oil price of $ 60 a barrel is good for us and suits us just fine. Crude oil is selling for a little bit more than $ 60 a barrel".
Asked whether he is worried at all about Donald Trump's decision on 12 May regarding the nuclear agreement, Kardor replied: "Not at all. In fact we invited major US Energy companies to take part in this year's exhibition, but they decided not to. In fact, the Trump administration banned American firms from attending the exhibition. It is sad that their own government prevented them. I am sure Iran's oil and gas industry will go from strength to strength, even if Trump decides to withdraw from the deal. Certainly, those foreign companies -- and there are quite a few of these -- who have no presence and business dealings in the United States, will remain active in Iran's oil and gas industry, and will continue their business here".
Kardor emphasized that there are three parameters which make Iran very attractive to foreign investors and energy companies.
He added: "We produce oil very cheaply. In fact Iran produces the cheapest hydrocarbons in the world. We have a highly qualified and technically competent workforce, and thirdly, Iran is safe and secure. Security is very important".
Kardor said Iran provides an excellent opportunity for those who are looking for competitively-priced hydrocarbons and want to be active in Iran's oil and gas industry.
In further remarks, the NIOC's chief executive officer, Ali Kardor, said exhibitions such as this , will help Iranian oil and gas companies to set up joint ventures and partnerships with hi-tech foreign energy companies.
