Tehran (IP) - Iran's National Foundation for Technology Development officially inaugurated Thursday with several senior domestic and international officials, including First Vice President Eshagh Jahangiri and representatives from UNIDO in attendance.

Iran Press/Iran news: The foundation is set to develop technology-based businesses in the areas of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as creating sustainable employment through the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the empowerment of individuals.

The foundation is formed in collaboration with the Ministry of Co-operation, Social Welfare, Omid Entrepreneurship Fund, UNIDO, Payam Special Economic Zone, Academic Jihad, Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Crafts, Iran Press reported.

The Ministry of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare, in partnership with UNIDO, has designed a joint program for business and employment development in Iran, one of the main areas of which is the information and communication technology with a focus on developing specialized industry ecosystems.

Director of the National Foundation for Technology Development Soheil Vatan Doust said the center comprises three parts: research, education, commercialization.

In the first part, the technological needs of the world are monitored in three areas: the Internet of Things, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence.

pointing to the choice of three areas of IoT, artificial intelligence and blockchain, he said blockchain, artificial intelligence and IoT are referred to as revolutionary technologies of the future, and many big companies in the technology world have made huge investments in these areas.

Pointing to the ultimate goal of the foundation, he said that 5 percent of university graduates lack the skills to start a business. The purpose of the center is to provide these people with the skills they need. Our goal is to bring the entrepreneurship rank in Iran to the world rank within the next 5 years.
