Iran Press/ Iran news: 66th session of the world health organizations Regional Committee for Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) started its work with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Ahmed Salim Saif Al Mandhari's speech.
President Hassan Rouhani also mentioned the rise in life expectancy among Iranians during the 40 years after the victory of Islamic revolution.
Life expectancy in Iran has increased
President Hassan Rouhani noted that life expectancy in Iran has increased over the past 40 years and his government have made many strives to be the health and environmental government.
He added: "During these 40 years life expectancy has increased from 56 years to 76 years and this is one of the services of all our doctors, medics and our great nation to establish health in this country."
Addressing the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Rouhani said: "One of the government's actions was to rescue 14 million Iranians from the storm of salt. The revival of the Orumieh Lake as the first decision on the first day of my first government was if the step was not taken for the restoration today there was no city with the name of Tabriz and 14 million people in West of Iran were forced to migrate and all gardens and farms in the area of were gone.
Rouhani added: "If the 11th and 12th government efforts were not for clean air and the health of the Iranian people, petrochemical gasoline would have sent millions of patients to the hospital."
