Romania backs EU's stands on Iran, Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu told Iranian Ambassador to Bucharest Hamid Moayyer Thursday.

Melescanu said his country as a member of the European Union would have positive cooperation with Europe to preserve the 2015 Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

 Romanian foreign minister said Bucharest holds a positive attitude towards continuation of cooperation with Iran.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed Tehran- Bucharest cooperation, international issues and other matters of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on promotion of political, economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
