A military helicopter crashed in Oromiya region of Ethiopia in which all its' eighteen passengers on board have died.

Iran Press/Africa: Ethiopia’s Defense Ministry stated that fifteen members of defence force and three civilians were killed in the crash in Oromiya region.

According to this letter from Ethiopia’s Defense Ministry indoctrination & PR division bureau, the flight No. 808 helicopter was on duty during the accident and crashed 20 minutes away from its destination in Bishiftu.

The helicopter was flying from the eastern Ethiopian town of Dire Dawa and headed to Bishoftu around 60 kilometres south of the capital Addis Ababa, Addisu said.

The Ethiopia Air Force said the accident was being investigated.

Citing the area's police bureau PR, commander Aschalew Alemu, ANDM's FB page said among the victims were 2 women & 2 children.

It adds it was ET-AIU model helicopter.The reporter NP said only one of the bodies were identified so far. 

Addisu Arega, a Oromiya regional cabinet minister, confirmed the Fana report and tweeted: “All passengers on board died. The cause is under investigation. Our condolences to the families.”

In 2013, an Ethiopian military cargo plane crashed on landing at Mogadishu airport in Somalia, killing four of the six crew members.
