China's Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Canada and the United States had yet to clarify their reason for arresting the Chief Financial Officer and daughter of Chinese tech giant Huawei’s founder.

Iran Press/ Asia: "Geng Shuang" told reporters on Thursday that incident that has dealt a blow to hopes of easing Sino-US trade tensions, Reuters reported.

The shock arrest of Meng Wanzhou, who is also Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.’s chief financial officer, is riling authorities in Beijing and raises fresh doubts over a 90-day truce on trade struck between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping on the day she was detained.

"Geng Shuang" added: "the Chinese consulate in Canada had been providing assistance to Meng".

In the following, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized again on the Beijing's opposition to America's unilateral sanctions against Iran.

"China is opposed to the US sanctions against other countries including Iran, which is not within the UN Security Council framework".

Shuang also emphasized that Beijing has consistently adhered to UN Security Council resolutions on sanctions.

Canada has arrested global chief financial officer of China’s Huawei Technologies, who now faces extradition to the United States on suspicion she violated U.S. trade sanctions against Iran.

Meng Wanzhou, who is also the deputy chair of Huawei’s board and the daughter of company founder Ren Zhengfei, was arrested on Saturday 1 December, in Vancouver at the request of American law enforcement authorities.
