Iran Press/Iran news: Describing Iran-Iraq relations as amicable and historic, Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the two nations are 'almost one family', and the US efforts to break Iran-Iraq ties are doomed to failure.
Iraq, a pillar of security in the Middle East

Iran's foreign minister also said that the country supports all the proposals for cooperation, with the participation of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which had already been presented by Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim, Head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement.
Only regional countries can decide the future
Zarif stated that Iran has always been with the people of the region, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that only the countries of the region can decide the future of this region.
"Iran has always been prepared to talk to its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, but the Saudis have never shown interest in dialogue," the Iranian foreign minister responded in a question on talks with Saudi Arabia.
Referring to Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the US withdrawal from the agreement, Zarif said by leaving JCPOA, Washington proved its unreliability and untrustworthiness for negotiations of any kind.
Iranian Foreign Minister noted that the UN Security Council has approved the JCPOA saying if the US president Donald Trump thinks America can reach a better deal than JCPOA, then he is completely wrong.
On March 9, Zarif has arrived in Baghdad to make preparations for the upcoming visit of President Rouhani to the neighboring country.
President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to arrive in the neighboring country of Iraq on Monday at the head of a high-ranking delegation for a 3-day visit at the invitation of Iraqi prime minister.
