The "Gaza Solidarity" Student Movement is still being suppressed by the US police and some university officials after nearly two weeks with over 900 students being arrested.

Iran PressAmerica: The American student protest movement began 9 days ago on April 17 at Columbia University in New York; the protesting students called on the university to cut off its relations with the Israeli institutions involved in the war on Gaza.

Police intruded at Virginia Tech University and arrested dozens of the students protesting against the US-backed Israeli war on Gaza.

Police cleared out an encampment at Virginia Tech late Sunday after protesters had set up tents on the lawn of the campus' Graduate Life Center, ABC News reported on Monday.

The university warned the students to remove their tents otherwise they would be charged with trespassing the campus and would be arrested by the Virginia Tech Police.

"At approximately 10:15 p.m., police approached protesters to ask them to disperse within five minutes. Those who remained were subject to arrest," the university added.

ABC News said dozens of students were arrested.

The protesting students have set up tents on the campuses of some universities for round-the-clock sit-ins. Protests are still active at a number of campuses.

Near George Washington University, protesters at an encampment passed the barriers Monday morning placed in the University Yard.

The yard had been closed since last week, the AP reported.

At Columbia University, the site of the first protests, student organizers continue encampments regardless of university officials.

Protesters at Yale University set up a new encampment with dozens of tents Sunday afternoon, nearly a week after police arrested nearly 50 demonstrators and cleared a similar camp.

About 275 people were arrested Saturday at various campuses including Indiana University at Bloomington, Arizona State University and Washington University in St. Louis.

The number of arrests nationwide has surpassed 900 since April 17.

The students call on the universities to stop their cooperation with any company involved in assisting Israel's military war on Gaza. 219
