Iran Press/ Iran News: Attending a gathering on the occasion of the third anniversary of passing away of former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Thursday, Eshaq Jahangiri referred to the US assassination of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and said the US threatened to attack 52 important sites, including well-known cultural sites within Iran, but its military base was hit by a barrage of Iranian missiles.
He noted that people must regain their trust in government and be aware that the government is doing everything it can to report clearly and transparently about the UIA Flight 752 air tragedy and how to ensure that such mistakes will never happen again. Jahangiri said the armed forces safeguarde Iran's borders and ensure the security of the Iranian people, and must not be undermined in any way.
Jahangiri stressed that the roots of the mistake which led to the downing of the Ukrainian passenger plane must be removed and the victims must be compensated for, asserting that people are Iran's social capital.

He emphasized that national unity must be strengthened with threats turned into opportunities, encouraging people to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
