The US administration and President Donald Trump should come to their senses and stop bothering themselves and others, said the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in Mashad on Monday.

'Iran is now in such a position in the nuclear energy that, if we cannot keep the promises we made to our people, the country will go back to its previous position or even a better position,' said Ali-Akbar Salehi in the opening ceremony of an atomic energy high school in Mashad.

'Foreigners should take these remarks more seriously than some do in the country; when we say we are ready to go back to the previous situation or even a better one, we speak based on facts.'

Saying that the atomic propellant project is going on well, he said, 'Only six countries have the technology now: the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and India, which made it with the help of Russia.'

Regarding the ion therapy hospital, he said that its designing is almost complete, added that the hospital is the first of its kind in West Asia.

Salehi said work on establishing the hospital will start soon and it will take about €200m to equip it.

He also said that Iran's minister of foreign affairs responded to US President Donald Trump's tweet wisely.
