Iran Press/America: The House voted to impeach the US President Donald Trump for an unprecedented second time on Wednesday, alleging he encouraged a mob to storm Congress as part of a last-gasp effort to overturn Democrat Joe Biden’s election win.
The vote was 232 to 197, with all Democrats joined by 10 Republicans, in a House chamber protected by National Guard troops stationed throughout the Capitol and its grounds.
According to the US International Daily, the Wall Street Journal, Democrats’ push to impeach Trump just before he is set to leave office reflects many lawmakers’ deep anger at his monthslong campaign to challenge the results of the election, making false claims about election fraud and trying to twist the arms of state officials as well as Vice President Mike Pence to stay in power, culminating in his supporters’ violent actions.
We know that the president of the United States incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion, against our country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said. “He must go—he is a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love.”
However; Republicans, some of whom criticized Trump’s actions, believe that Democrats were rushing to impeach because of their longstanding animosity toward the president and would just further divide the country.
