Iran Press/Iran news: General Mohammad Ghanbari, the provincial police chief said that the second bomb went off in the city of Zahedan as police raced to the scene of the first explosion.
The provincial police chief told IRNA news agency that the bombs were handmade and that police is investigating the blasts.
"Investigations showed that the explosion was caused by a handmade explosive device, which led to a bomb squad being dispatched to the location who found a suspicious package," said Mohammad Ghanbari.
"The second bomb detonated before being defused and lightly injured three police forces," he said.
Police are currently trying to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group - an extremist terrorist group based in Pakistan - in a statement claimed responsibility for the twin explosions in the city of Zahedan.
