Tehran (IP) - The next meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's six neighboring countries will be held in Tehran soon.

Iran PressAsia: The spokesman for Pakistan's foreign ministry told the news conference in Islamabad on Friday that the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's six neighbors, including Iran, Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, were discussing the presence of members of the Taliban interim government, Iran press reported. The next meeting of foreign ministers of 6 countries will be held in Tehran.

Asim Iftikhar also added that the Afghanistan Conference will be held in Geneva next week at the initiative of the United Nations

A virtual meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighbors was hosted by Pakistan last Wednesday.

A part of the joint statement of the meeting of foreign ministers of the six countries states that Afghanistan's neighbors agreed that the meetings of the foreign ministers should continue in rotation and that the next meeting should be held in person in Tehran.

Following the establishment of the Taliban in Kabul and the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, the Pakistani government is seeking to recognize the Taliban so that it would gain political legitimacy in various parts of the world, including Afghanistan's neighbors.
