Ali Akbar Safaei, CEO of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, in a meeting with the high-ranking economic delegation of Kyrgyzstan, which traveled to Tehran under the leadership of the country's Deputy Foreign Minister, said: "Any investment in special economic zones and free port zones is supported by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Safai added: "With the investment of the Kyrgyz private sector in the northern and southern ports of Iran, the country's traders and transit goods will enjoy appropriate discounts and facilities."
Referring to the Iranian government's strategy for developing economic relations and cooperation with neighboring countries, the head of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran currently has cooperation agreements with countries on the western and eastern shores of the Caspian Sea and is rapidly preparing to complete its road and rail corridors."
Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Erkinov also said in the meeting: "Access to open waters through Iranian commercial ports is one of Bishkek's economic strategies in developing and strengthening transit and maritime cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan noted that negotiations between Iran and Kyrgyzstan to facilitate transit and investment in Shahid Rajaee Port have been underway for a long time, added: "Kyrgyzstan is ready to implement the project to establish a logistics zone in Shahid Rajaee Port, with the cooperation and participation of Iran."
This Kyrgyz official stated that Bishkek's investment in Iran's Shahid Rajaee Port to create a special zone for export, import, and transit is subject to compliance with and respect for the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting: "Trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Kyrgyzstan in the field of creating transit and logistics hubs in Iranian ports is carried out within the framework of various combined and transit transport corridors."
