Iran Press/Iran news: Tasu'a is the ninth day of Muharram and the day before Ashura.
This day is devoted to Abbas ibn Ali (peace be upon him), Imam Hussein's half-brother, because of his bravery in the battle of Karbala.
Shia Muslims hold ceremonies every year in the month of Muharram to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his faithful companions.
The third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH), and 72 of his faithful companions were martyred in the desert of Karbala on the Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) in the year 680 AD. 205/211/218
