Iran News- According to an Iran Press report on Sunday, judiciary spokesman, Hojjat-ol-Islam Mohseni Ejeie, elaborated further by saying: "Out of these 6 individuals, 2 cases were referred to the appeals court which overturned the original court decision , commuting the sentences to 20 years imprisonment in each case. One individual was executed . Another two cases may be referred to the appeals court, and one individual may be executed if a series of actions and decisions don't go his way."
In further remarks, Mohseni Ejeie said in recent years a total of 311 individuals have been convicted of serious white-collar financial crime and financial corruption , and the vast majority if them have been sentenced to between 20 to 25 years imprisonment. A few have been executed.
Elaborating further he said: "Three individuals have been given life imprisonment, one person sentenced to 25 years imprisonment , 14 individuaks were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment , 95 individuals were sentenced to 5 to 10 years imprisonment , and 36 individuals were given 10 to 15 years imprisonment. Also 147 government employees, mostly civil servants , were tried and found guilty of financial corruption , 54 of them were permanently dismissed (sacked ) from employment and 93 people temporarily lost their jobs or were dismissed for a period of time.
The judiciary spokesman also confirmed that a deputy industry minister has been arrested on charges of financial fraud , theft and corruption.
