Iran Press/ Middle East: According to Iran Press News Agency, Vahid Jalalzadeh, after meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in a group of journalists, stated that the purpose of his trip to Damascus was to examine the latest developments in the region and ways to develop bilateral cooperation.
Emphasizing the positive and constructive attitude of Iranian and Syrian authorities to improve relations, Jalalzadeh said: "The two countries are determined to remove the obstacles in the way of cooperation."
Referring to Tehran's support for Damascus during the war against terrorists, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament said:
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not leave the Syrian government and nation alone in the imposed economic war."
Jalalzadeh also stated that Iran does not accept any aggression and the presence of foreigners in Syria, and noted:
"The areas on which the Syrian economy depends should be liberated as soon as possible and be given to the people of this country."
A delegation from Iran's Parlaiment headed by Vahid Jalalzadeh, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, arrived in Damascus on Monday to meet high-ranking Syrian officials.
