Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev submitted his resignation to President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday 15 January.

Iran PressEurope: Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has announced that his government has resigned. The statement came shortly after President Vladimir Putin delivered his annual state-of-the-nation address.

Russian news agencies said Putin thanked Medvedev for his work. They said that Putin will name Medvedev as deputy of the presidential Security Council.

Putin asked Medvedev’s Cabinet to keep working until the new Cabinet is formed.

Before announcing the resignation of the cabinet, Medvedev met with Putin to discuss his state-of-the-nation address, which took place earlier on Wednesday, the Kremlin’s press office said.
