Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani emphasized that today the United States is in its worst position ever, with traditional allies distancing themselves from the US, and even international bodies such as United Nations, IAEA, UNESCO, and ICC all opposing Trump administration policies .

Iran Press/Iran: Speaking on Wednesday at a Cabinet meeting, President Hassan Rouhani expressed his condolences on the occasion of Moharram, and the anniversary of the martyrdom of the younger grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam, the Chief of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

President Rouhani pointedly added:  "The Iranian nation follows the path of Chief of Martyrs, Aba Abdollah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him), and without a doubt the Iranian nation shall emerge victorious in its current epic battle against the enemies of Islam.

Turning to United States, president Rouhani said: “Today, the allies of America are not supporting the US politically and even America’s traditional allies have distanced themselves from the US, whereas once they were proud to stand by America's side".

The Iranian president pointedly added: "Despite the fact that Iran is facing an unwanted economic war, and despite the fact that those who oppose us do not show even a modicum of respect for international law, the morale, spirit, resistance and resilience of the Iranian people is truly remarkable and exemplary, particularly at this time [the month of Moharram], when the flag of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is raised high."

Posting a message on Twitter on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister harshly criticized the newly adopted measures of US government against the judges of the International Criminal Court.

Zarif’s tweet came after the US National Security Adviser John Bolton threatened the international criminal court (ICC) on Monday with sanctions and made an excoriating attack on the institution in a speech in Washington, MNA reported.

This is not the first time that US, under Donald Trump is turning his back on international organisations and adopt an aggressive posture toward them.

Since President Donald Trump took office in 2017, the US has quit the UN cultural agency UNESCO, cut UN funding and announced its withdrawal from the UN-backed Paris climate agreement and Iran nuclear deal.

On June, the United States has announced its withdrawal from the United Nation Human Rights Council (UNHRC) over what it calls the body’s entrenched bias against Israel.

The US administration has for long been pushing the UNHRC to end its scrutiny of Israel's widespread human rights abuses against Palestinians.
