Iran Press/Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said the cooperation project could result in a 50-50 split of costs and benefits for all the parties involved.
Iran's minister referred to the meeting that Iran hosted in recent days and said, the10th meeting of the board of governors of the Regional Centre for Urban Water Management (RCUWM) was held in Tehran, and was attended by ministers and senior officials from 16 countries.
He said the meeting was per se a sign of intra-regional cooperation and a sign of recognition of Iran as a qualified host for the forum, seeking a way to fulfill the commitments of the governing board including 10 projects agreed upon.
A second forum he mentioned was the Economic Cooperation meeting on water and energy with Tajikistan. Tajik officials came to the conclusion after two years that the best way of expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries was precisely through the forum.
"We agreed to resolve some issues relating to ongoing projects in Tajikistan by Iranian companies as well as starting some new projects," the minister said.
He referred to the Eurasian Conference of Trade on Sunday in Tehran, as the third forum, and described it as a good start for the dissemination of information among Iranian companies and businessmen interested in working with Eurasia.
The meeting with officials from the Republic of Azerbaijan on shared rivers and relevant projects was the fourth meeting he pointed to.
He said Tehran is now working with Baku in utilizing the projects on a 50-50 cost-and-benefit split.
"Altogether, our efforts in the region are in a way that we count on regional cooperation much more so than before; we think that there are many potentials in neighbouring countries that both sides can benefit from," the Iranian minister added. 101/211/219
