Iran Press/Iran news: Several members of Marzieh Hashemi's family have also participated in the conference on Wednesday.
IRIB World Service’s Head, Peyman Jebelli said at the conference that all the media outlets in Iran are concerned about Marzieh Hashemi's detention and we hope that holding such conferences will lead to her freedom from captivity, Iran Press reported.
"Eleven days have passed from Marzieh Hashemi detention in US but Press TV anchor was not accused of any crimes and was held as material witness in the US, IRIB World Service’s Head added.
He said Press TV anchor was paying price for seeking freedom of speech. "We are doing all we can to help free Press TV anchor from the US detention,” Jebelli said.
He also said that the Iranian Foreign Ministry will use its capacities to help free Hashemi.
Iranian journalists rallied outside the UN office in Tehran on Wednesday morning, to condemn the detention in Washington of Press TV journalist and news presenter Marzieh Hashemi.
Hashemi's arrest has been faced with so many reactions from different political and media figures and activists all around the world.
Hashemi, a 59-year-old American-born Muslim convert who has lived in Iran for years, was detained at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri last Sunday while in the US to visit her ill brother and other family members. 101/201
