Iran Press/Iran news: President Hassan Rouhani has arrived in Gorgan the provincial capital of Golestan, to inspect flood-stricken districts of the province, and meet local people whose lives have been affected by some of the heaviest rainfall and powerful floods to hit this region in living memory.
President Rouhani was greeted at Gorgan Airport by the interior minister, AbdolReza Rahmani Fazli, the Leader's representative in Golestan province, Ayatollah Nourmofidi, the Friday prayers leader of Gorgan, and other local provincial officials.
According to an Iran Press report, immediately after arriving at the airport, President Rouhani made his way to the flood-stricken districts of the province to see for himself how aid and relief operations are progressing, how extensive is the damage to towns and villages in the province, and what are the most urgent needs of flood-hit victims.
The Iranian president is expected to chair a management crisis meeting of Golestan province, attended by ministers and senior officials, in which the relief and aid operations for flood victims will be discussed and an assessment will be made regarding the extent of damage caused by flooding.
Accompanying the president on this provincial tour is his chief of staff, Mahmoud Vaezi, intelligence minister, Hojjat-ol-Islam Mahmoud Alavi, agriculture minister, Mahmoud Hojjati, health minister, Saeed Namaki, roads and urban development minister, Mohammad Eslami, vice president and head of the planning and budget organization, Mohammad Bagher Nowbakht, and power(energy) minister, Reza Ardakanian.
