Iran Press/ West Asia: The Secretary General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the EU foreign policy chief emphasized the necessity of stopping the attacks of the Zionist regime against the residents of the Gaza Strip and ending the humanitarian disaster in this strip.
On Monday, the Secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council announced in a statement the meeting between the Secretary General of the Council, " Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi " and " Josep Borrell ", EU Foreign Policy Chief.
The statement said: "The two sides discussed the developments in the region in this meeting and discussed the need for coordinated and integrated international efforts to stop the attacks of the Israeli regime against the residents of the Gaza Strip."
According to the statement of the Secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, in this meeting that was held yesterday evening (Sunday) at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, the latest developments and events in the regional and international arenas, the most important of which is the war of the Zionist regime against the residents of the Gaza Strip and ways to strengthen the ongoing international and regional efforts to end this war and its humanitarian catastrophe were discussed.
In this meeting, Al-Budaiwi and Borrell also discussed ways to strengthen and develop cooperation between the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union in various fields of dialogue and emphasized the importance of group movements between the two sides to deal with current challenges.
They also discussed the aspects of the regional security talks between the senior officials of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union, which is scheduled to be held in Riyadh on January 24, and discussed the importance of these talks in promoting regional peace and stability.
The previous security dialogue between the member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and Europe was held last October in Muscat, the capital of Oman, and focused on the Gaza war, and in these talks, restraint, tension reduction, and the release of prisoners from both the Palestinian and Zionist sides were emphasized.
Borrell's visit to Riyadh took place in a situation where the region is witnessing security tension following the war that the army of the occupying regime of Israel has launched against the residents of the Gaza Strip since October 7 which has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 22,800 Palestinians. More than 58 thousand 416 people were injured, most of them children, women and the elderly.
