Over 2,500 representatives of government authorities, business community, international organizations and media are expected take part in the business programme of the second Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Moscow on 24–25 May. The operator of the event is the Roscongress Foundation. 

Iran PressAsia: In addition to representatives of the Eurasian Five – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia – speakers from China, South Africa, Uzbekistan, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Indonesia, as well as representatives of the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the International Organization for Migration will participate in the Forum.

“In 2022, the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union gathered a high pace of work: 12 meetings of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission and 50 meetings of the EEC Board were held, which resulted in the adoption of over 400 decisions in various areas. The Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow is the first of the key events of the EAEU in 2023, the year of Russia’s presidency in our Union. I am confident that it will become a good platform for a comprehensive discussion of the key tasks of the EAEU to develop a strategy for the future interaction of our countries, trade development, formation of a single market, digitalization, and cooperation with other associations,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

One of the key discussions at the Forum will be held within the framework of the ‘Priorities for EAEU 2030+’ strategy session. Its main topic is to prepare new long-term planning documents and identify the main vectors of integration cooperation for the period until 2030 and 2045. The session is expected to be attended by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; Adylbek Kasymaliyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic; Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission; Sergei Glazyev, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission; and Tigran Sarkisyan, Vice Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank. 

Representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS will take part in the sessions of the ‘EAEU in a Changing World’ thematic track. Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich will take part in the events of this track. The EAEU’s agenda for cooperation with non-post-Soviet countries will be continued by a series of events that involve representatives of Indonesia.

The key speakers of the Technology and Cooperation track will be Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; Selwin Charles Hart, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Climate Action, United Nations; Simon Steele, Executive Secretary, Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; and Nazarbek Malayev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, Vahan Kerobyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia; Dmitry Patrushev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation; and Igor Brylo, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus will take part in the Forum discussions on the development of the agro-industrial complex.

Among the Forum’s highlights is the thematic session ‘Eurasia’s New Generation: Young Talent’. The success of Eurasian economic integration today and its quality directly depend on the work with the youth of the EAEU countries. The session will be moderated by Elena Shmeleva, Chairman of the Board of Sirius Federal Territory and the Head of the Talent and Success Foundation. Key speakers include Aleksander Yakovenko, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Yuri Sentyurin, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Daniyar Turusbekov, Director of the Organizational Support and Protocol Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission; Stanislav Surovtsev, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, Social Work and International Relations, Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

On the margins of the EAEU Global University Summit, an agreement on a consortium for Eurasian integration between leading universities of the EAEU states is scheduled to be signed. Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, will address the Summit participants with a welcoming speech. The creation of a joint master’s programme in the Union will be a positive impetus, while the expansion of cooperation in targeted training of highly qualified personnel will make a significant contribution to the economic, scientific, and technological development of the EAEU.

The ‘Human Capital’ track will include speeches by Irina Kostevich, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus; Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation. They will discuss aspects of improving the living standards of the population of the EAEU Member States.

Raimbek Batalov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘Atameken’, member of the of the Presidium of the EAEU Business Council; Danil Ibraev, President of the Kyrgyz Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs, member of the Presidium of the EAEU Business Council; Anatoly Kharlap, Chairman of the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Belarus, member of the Presidium of the EAEU Business Council; Armen Nersisyan, founder and Director of Credit Partner LLC, member of the Audit Commission of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia will discuss prospects for business development in the Eurasian Economic Union countries within the EAEU Business Council.

In addition, Tatiana Bakalchuk, CEO of Wildberries; Sergey Belyakov, CEO of Ozon, and Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, will address Eurasian collectiveness issues within the EAEF’s eponymous track.

The second Eurasian Economic Forum is being held as part of the Russian Federation’s presidency of the EAEU bodies in 2023. The aim of the Forum is to improve cooperative ties in the Eurasian space. The Forum programme includes some 35 sessions, which will be divided into seven thematic tracks: ‘Human Capital’, ‘Technology and Cooperation’, ‘The EAEU in a Changing World’, ‘Eurasian Collectiveness’, as well as ‘The EAEU Internal Market: Cooperation in Customs, Competition, and State Procurement’, the strategic section, and the EAEU Business Council section.

In addition, the EAEF will summarise the results of the first Green Eurasia climate project competition aimed at finding effective practices for adaptation and mitigation of climate change, as well as other climate practices aimed at sustainable development of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
