Niger (IP) - A Nigerian delegation of Islamic scholars has traveled to Niamey, the capital of Niger, to address the initiatives for settling the crisis in the country.

As the head of the West African Community, the President of Nigeria agreed on Saturday with the mediation of Nigerian religious leaders to resolve the Niger crisis.

The Nigerian delegation headed by the Head of Nigeria's Izala Islamic Center, Sheikh Bala Lao, was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Niger, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, at Diori Hamani International Airport. 

The Islamic Nigerian delegation then entered Niger's Presidential Palace and met with the head of the country's transitional council. 

The military junta that took control of Niger in a coup late last month declared the members of a new government Cabinet on Thursday.
