Netanyahu and Johnson discuss Iran over the phone

The Israeli prime minister said he had discussed Iran in a telephone conversation with the British prime minister.

Iran Press/Europe: The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu in a Twitter message on Saturday night said that in the telephone conversation he called for expansion of relations with Britain, and also urged British prime minister, Boris Johnson to stand firm against Iran.

Benjamin Netanyahu had urged the European Union to abandon the Iran nuclear deal, and he called on the European signatories of the nuclear deal, (namely Britain, France, and Germany) to join the United States in withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and to re-impose sanctions on Iran.

The Europeans have rejected Netanyahu's demands and stressed the importance of the JCPOA for Europe's security, and indeed world security.

The US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA in May 2018, re-imposing severe sanctions against the Iranian nation and waging economic terrorism against the Islamic Republic in defiance of global criticism.

The US withdrawal from the JCPOA led to the widespread condemnation by the international community and also inside the US.
