Tehran (IP) - Iranian-British national Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, imprisoned for five years in Iran, was freed on Sunday, her lawyer said.

Iran PressIran News: Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 42, was imprisoned in Iran for 5 years on charges of trying to orchestrate a soft overthrow of the Islamic Republic.

The prosecutor general of Tehran had stated in October 2017 that she was being held for running “a BBC Persian online journalism course which was aimed at recruiting and training people to spread propaganda against Iran.”

On June 24, 2019, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said Zaghari-Ratcliffe would serve out her five-year prison sentence.

However, Zaghari-Ratcliffe's husband has been told a new court case against her is scheduled for next Sunday and she will face new charges.
