Representatives of 121 member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, by publishing a statement, condemned the Israeli regime's attack on the consular section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, the capital of Syria.

Iran Press/Asia: On Monday, April 1, 2024, Israeli fighter jets targeted the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria, with missile attacks. As a result of this attack, generals "Mohammadreza Zahedi" and "Mohammadhadi Haj Rahimi" and five of their companions were martyred.

The representatives of the 121 member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement in New York issued a statement yesterday Tuesday, condemning the vicious attack by the Israeli regime against the diplomatic places and representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, and expressed their solidarity and sympathy with the people and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The statement noted that such attacks against diplomatic places and representatives cannot be justified in any way and are a gross violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. Also, NAM said that the Israeli aggression violates fundamental principles governing the immunity of diplomatic places and representatives under the Convention on Diplomatic Rights (1961), the Convention on Consular Rights (1963), and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Persons Under International Protection, including Diplomatic Representatives (1973).
