Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, parliamentarians on Sunday approved a bill to support and use Iranian-manufactured products, and to make maximum use of the country's manufacturing capacity, and maximum use of the service industry.
129 members of parliament voted in favour of the bill, 44 members voted against, and 9 MPs abstained from voting. Thus the bill was passed with overwhelming support of Iranian parliamentarians who said it was essential to support Iranian-manufactured products.
MP Hamid Fouladgar, representing the city of Isfahan in the Majlis, commenting on the bill said: "This time last year, a special parliamentary commission to support national products and manufacture and article 44 of Iran's constitution, presented its report to the parliament. The report clearly stated that although the basic idea of supporting Iranian-manufactured goods was an excellent idea, it wasn't being implemented properly in many instances."
The MP for Isfahan added: "Unfortunately, some government departments and government-owned businesses, instead of using Iranian-manufactured components, have imported those very components into the country, and have not used the Iranian version of that component. This means the legislation has not been implemented properly."
