At least 22 people have been killed due to lightning in India's eastern state of Bihar, state-run broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) reported on Saturday.

Iran PressAsia: Heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning strikes lashed the state on Friday affecting parts of the state.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in eastern parts of Bihar in the coming days. It cautioned people not to venture out during rains.

Local media, quoting official data, reported that 907 people were killed by lightning strikes across India in 2022.
