Iranian Parliament discussed:
Legal clauses of draft amendment to Iranian Presidential Election Law referred to relevant commission

Tehran (IP) - The Iranian parliamentarians agreed to refer the legal clauses of the draft amendment to the Presidential Election Law to the relevant commission for further consideration.

Iran Press/Iran news: In today's (Wednesday) public session of the Iranian Parliament and during the review of the draft amendment to the articles of the Presidential Election Law, the legal clauses of the draft was approved with 161 votes in favour and 59 against, and referred to the relevant commission.

The text of the legal clauses of the draft amendment to the articles of the Presidential Election Law is as follows:

Part (5) Clause (b): Non-conviction of economic and electoral crimes, crimes against the internal and external security of the country, acting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, apostasy, betrayal of trust, and crimes against public decency.

Part (6): No effective criminal conviction and no deprivation of social rights

Part (7): No bad security record and no affiliation with illegal groups.

Also, Mohammad-Reza Mirtajeddini, the representative of Tabriz, suggested that four years of managerial experience in government organizations instead of 6 years is enough to determine the managerial skills and experience of the presidential candidate. The MPs agreed with this proposal with 141 votes in favour, 70 against, and 4 abstentions.
