President of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh Republic) sent an urgent appeal to the international community to take immediate measures to prevent the genocide of the Artsakh people and to lift the siege imposed by Azerbaijan.

Iran PressAsia: In December 2022, the Republic of Azerbaijan blocked the Armenia-Karabakh road known as Lachin Corridor under the pretext of environment. Yerevan and the local authorities of Karabakh called this action of Baku a violation of the peace agreement (2020) and warned about its negative consequences.

The President of NKR, Arayik Harutyunyan, sent an urgent appeal to the international community օn August 8th, appealing for immediate action to prevent the genocide of the people of Artsakh and to end the blockade.

President of Nagorno-Karabakh, Artsakh Republic, stated: “The blockade of the Lachin Corridor is not an isolated incident; it should be regarded as part of a planned, large-scale and coordinated policy by Azerbaijan aimed at the destruction of the people of Artsakh as a whole. The blockade of Artsakh is a direct continuation of the military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020, with the direct involvement of Turkey and terrorist organizations from the Middle East.

He added that Azerbaijan has consistently pursued a policy of forcibly suppressing the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, accompanying its actions with the use of force and widespread violations of human rights. The ultimate goal of this policy is the expulsion of the people of Artsakh and closing the issue of the right to self-determination for the people of Artsakh.

In another part of the letter of the head of Nagorno-Karabakh, it is stated that this crisis can be overcome only with humanitarian and international political support. 219
