Iran Press/Iran news: The Spokesman for Iran's Judiciary, Gholamhussein Esmaeili said on Tuesday that the person has admitted to receiving special training at the British Council and British intelligence agencies, in addition to receiving financial support from Britain's Foreign Office.
The Judiciary spokesman added: "This person's mission was to teach theatre and arts which went against Islamic teachings and principles. He had managed to infiltrate Iranian theatre and was active in teaching theatrical and artistic courses which went against Islamic and Iranian culture."
"Some of the theatrical performances which this person was connected with either as a director or actor, became very controversial, and stirred much debate, and in the end, police were called in to close the theatre. This is how he was arrested and he admitted working for British Intelligence and for the British Council," Esmaeili said.
In further comments, Gholamhussein Esmaeili confirmed that two other individuals have also been arrested on charges of spying for foreign intelligence agencies.
"One of them spied for Saudi Arabia and the other for the United States, and a court of law has issued rulings and given a verdict in relation to these two individuals," the spokesman for Iran's Judiciary concluded.
