Iran Press/Iran news: The Iranian Ministry of Culture announced in a statement on Monday that Cecilia Sala, who traveled to Iran on Friday, December 13, on a journalist visa, was arrested on December 19, on charges of violating the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The case of Cecilia Sala is under investigation, her arrest was carried out in accordance with relevant regulations, and the Italian Embassy in Tehran has been informed, the statement added.
The ministry announced that consular access has been provided to the person in custody during the period and that Sala has also been in contact with her family by phone.
The statement stressed that the policy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has always been to welcome the legal activities of international media journalists, increase the number of foreign media outlets in the country, and protect their legal rights, and this is the constant policy of Iran.
