New York (IP)- The representative of the Israeli regime envoy in the United Nations left the Security Council meeting to protest the meeting's agenda supporting Palestine.

Iran PressAmerica: Russia is the periodic chairman of the United Nations Security Council. The meeting of the Security Council on “the situation in the Middle East including Question of Palestine” was held under the chairmanship of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday in New York.

The representative of the Israeli regime in the United Nations, when Lavrov was speaking at the Security Council meeting about Palestine, left this meeting in protest.

In support of the Palestinian people, the representatives of different countries condemned the recent attacks of the Israeli regime on Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Security Council meeting.

After the reelection of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli military intensified its attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Palestinian areas.

They attacked al-Aqsa Mosque almost every day during Ramadan this year and clashed with Palestinians.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has also met with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki in New York to discuss the state of affairs in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"There has been an exchange of opinions about the situation in the Middle East region, with an emphasis on the state of affairs in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement. The Russian side reaffirmed the unwavering readiness to continue to provide support to the efforts to realize the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state that exists in peace and security with Israel," the statement said. During his visit to New York, Lavrov called upon all parties not to give up attempts to achieve a two-state solution for the Palestinian issue.

"I believe that we should not give up. We are now witnessing attempts to put aside some political aspects of the Palestinian issue and to focus on offering economic benefits to Palestinians. From the look of it, it is some sort of a bribe: here is the money, but try to somehow forget about your independence and statehood," the top Russian diplomat said.
