Iran Press/ Asia: The 2022 Asia Oceania Open Para Powerlifting Championships are underway from June 15 to 20 in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
In the competitions, Ali-Akbar Gharibshahi, the representative of Iran, lifted 254kg, set a new world record, and claimed two gold medals in the Men’s Up to 107kg.
With a total lift of 498kg, Gharibshahi also won two bronze medals in the 107kg weight class.
Saman Razi, another representative of Iran in Men’s Up to 107kg, snatched two silver medals, lifting 233kg.
The 2022 Asia Oceania Open Para Powerlifting Championships are underway from June 15 to 20 in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
231 athletes from 33 countries are participating in the six-day competition.
It is the first of four Regional Championships in the 2022 Para powerlifting season, followed by the Americas, Africa, and European Open Championships.
The competition is divided into ten weight classes in men’s and women’s categories. Athletes compete in a single weight class. The event will end with the men’s, women’s, and mixed team events.
