On Saturday morning, during a ceremony at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the selected Iranian in COMSTECH 2021 were awarded.

Iran PressIran news: COMSTECH the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) was established by the Third Islamic Summit of OIC held at Makkah, Saudi Arabia in January 1981. The President of Pakistan is Chairman of COMSTECH.

The core mandate of COMSTECH is to strengthen cooperation among OIC Member States in science and technology (S&T), and enhance their capabilities through training in emerging areas, undertake follow-up-actions and implementation of the resolutions of the OIC, and to draw up programs and submit proposals designed to increase the capability of the Muslim countries in science and technology (S&T). The ultimate aim is to build and nourish a scientific culture in addition to using S&T as a major contributor to socio-economic development and rapid industrialization.

Vahid Haddadi Asal, Deputy Minister of Science in International Affairs and Pakistani officials of COMSTECH were present in this ceremony.

Referring to Iran's scientific progress, Paiman Salehi, Deputy of science ministry in research, said: "In 2021, more than 77000 scientific articles have been registered from Iran and our country ranks 15th in the world in the production of articles."

He added: "Iran ranks first in the production of scientific articles among Islamic countries and rethe region."

Salehi said: "Despite the imposed sanctions on Iran, international activities and cooperation have increased and our scientists are not limited by geographical and political borders."

Pointing out that we have 559 research institutes in the country, Salehi said: "We have always looked towards economics and commercialization of scientific findings to create a link between the market and scientific products by setting up science and technology centers."

At the end of this ceremony, Ali Akbar Mousavi Mohadi from Tehran University was awarded as the best chemistry and Esmail Ghavanloo from Shiraz University as the best scientific book.
